TAPLIN'S WRESTLING CHAMP CAMP (Ross Taplin)
June 9th & June 10th - (Four Sessions Total Per Camper @ WHS)
Ross was a 2X Kansas Kids State Champion, 3X Kansas High School Champion, 144-6 High
School Record, 4A Wrestler of the year (2005), High School All-American 4th Place, Freestyle
All-American Fargo 7th Place, Division II All-American 3rd (2006) 2nd (2008).

Session 1: 7th-12th 9am-11am / K-6th 11am-1:30pm
Session 2: 7th-12th 1:30pm-3:30pm / K-6th 3:30pm-5:00pm

CAMP IS $45 - All CAMPERS receive a T-Shirt!

CAMP WILL COVER...

FEET - great stance and position on feet, heavy hands, under hooks, takedowns, front headlock series, defending takedowns, and scrambling.
TOP - heavy on top, spiral series, legs and turning with legs, working for the pin, returning to the mat.
BOTTOM - hand control, stand-ups, shrugs series, granby series, defending the turn, defending the legs.
VISUALIZATION TECHNIQUE - night before a match, before the match, through out the day.
ACTIVE STRETCHING - different techniques for stretching so that wrestlers feel better when they step on the mat.
TRAINING TIPS FOR COACHES - in the weight room, strength building and conditioning.

  WHS ALUM ERIC FISHER DONATES FLAG
Jim and Charlene Fisher (above left) presented to Wellington High School recently, on behalf of their son Eric Fisher, a Chief Petty Officer in the United States Navy - a very special American flag. The flag above was flown on a combat mission over Afghanistan on Jan. 22nd of this year as part of Operation Enduring Freedom; on board an EA-6B Prowler providing electronic warfare protection and support for U.S. and coalition ground units serving in Afghanistan. Chief Petty Officer Fisher, thru the assistance of his parents, presented this flag to
Wellington High School, where it will be proudly displayed with it's accompanying certificiate
for all to see. Fisher, an Avionics Technician graduated from WHS in 1981. Eric is married and has 4 children. Also pictured above receiving the flag are present day WHS Principal Dale Liston and Eric's WHS Principal in 1981, Merlyn Elder.

C-SPAN Has (2) Campaign 2008 Buses - On Tuesday 01.08.08, one bus was in
New Hampshire covering the presidential primary there. The other bus was
here in Wellington. Students and faculty toured the bus all morning - it later was
on display locally at the Steak House before departing after noon.

Iiro Laatio, WHS Foreign Exchange Student from Finland was honored
recently by the senior members of the football team. Iiro was a
Crusader Football player this year and will be returning to Finland
soon. His fellow Crusaders and Head Football Coach Linn Hibbs
presented Iiro with a senior signed "football" as a souvenir of his
stay here in Wellington, U.S.A. - Good Luck to you Iiro, your
Crusader Friends will miss you!
